Choosing a loom...
So you want to learn how to weave, but which loom should you get?
Is a rigid heddle loom right for you, or do you need a four harness
table loom, or perhaps a floor loom? With so many weaving looms to choose
from it is often confusing and difficult to make the right choice. Here
are some tips:
If you are a beginning weaver, and you are not sure if weaving is for
you, you might want to consider a smaller loom such as a Kromski Rigid
Heddle Loom or an Ashford Rigid Heddle loom. These compact looms are very
versitale, easy to master, even for a brand new weaver, and very cost
effective.
Does this mean a beginner should never jump right into weaving on a
four harness table loom or floor loom? No, by all means, you can teach
yourself how to weave on these looms as well, but we strongly recommend
that you take a weaving class, ask your weaving friend to guide you or
purchase a how to weave DVD so that your weaving experience is a pleasant
one.
